The transformation of our new home

Hey!

I’m so sorry I have been inactive on my blog for the last few weeks. You’re all probably aware that we got the keys to our new house on the 1st February and we worked solidly for a whole month on redecorating the entire place. We’ve also been acquiring furniture and making our new house a home. So, I thought I’d put together a post on the transformation for you all to see.

The day we collected the keys was the day the madness began. Ben and I were both excited, nervous and exhausted at the thought of the work we had in store for us after taking one step through the front door. The house was disgustingly dirty and the more cupboards and rooms we went into, the worse it got. There were loads of dead flies in one of the bedrooms, dog poo everywhere in the garden, there was years worth of food left stuck in the oven, mouldy food in the drawers, layers of dust on top of the cupboards and broken appliances. It took away the excitement we had for the place and to be honest, I was dreading moving in. I just wanted to hand back the keys from day one.

The first week we spent ripping vents out of the walls, sanding down and we even hired cleaners to clean the kitchen. Here are some photos from the start of our journey to making our house a home…

We would wake up at 7am and head straight over to the house, then we wouldn’t leave until evening. We did that daily for the first week until we had to go back to work. We would then go to the house straight after work until late. We had a lot of fun but it was also hard work.

Since week 1, we have redecorated the house from top to bottom, carpeted the whole of upstairs, painted furniture plus the banister, paid to have the roof, windows and gutters cleaned, had a new fuse board installed, and even adopted a puppy! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had quite a scary moment a couple of weeks into it as we heard loud bangs coming from the kitchen. We weren’t sure what it was at first and thought for a second it could be the fridge. We unplugged the fridge, but the loud sparks still happened and they would light up the kitchen. We had to phone an emergency electrician who found some bodged wires from behind the washing machine. The previous owner had taped some wires together and we were told we were lucky it didn’t do more damage. At the time we thought we may have had to have the whole house rewired, but we’re lucky we don’t. If you’re looking to buy a house then PLEASE get an electrical report done. We didn’t realise you needed it and presumed that because we had paid over ยฃ400 on a Structural Survey, issues like this would have been picked up… But they weren’t.

Anyway, we’ve come a long way in just under 2 months and here are some photos of our home so far…

We’re still a long way off finishing the place, however, it’s a million times better than what is was 2 months ago. Keep an eye on my Instagram for regular house updates and also to find out where I bought our furniture and accessories. If you have any tips or recommendations then pleaseeee get in touch! As you can tell, I love grey & white! (LOL)

Oh yeah, here’s a cute pic of our new puppy. His name is Dylan ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re not sure of his breed as he is a rescue dog, but we believe he is around 5 months old. We think he has a bit of German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Doberman in him.. Maybe even a fraction of Collie? We’re hoping to do a DNA test soon. He’s good as gold, sometimes a little cheeky but he picks up new tricks really well! He’s definitely helped make our house a home and we couldn’t imagine life without him now.

My stay at The Hoxton Hotel, Shoreditch <3

I’ve always heard good things about this hotel so before I got there I knew it definitely wasn’t going to be a let down. I go to London every now and again to attend blogger events and just to spend a little time away with family… because we all love a bit of sight seeing don’t we? ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello guys and gals! <3

I hope you’ve had an enjoyable, relaxing Sunday? I know I have, although I did have a lovely night Friday spent at The Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch.

I’ve always heard good things about this hotel so before I got there I knew it definitely wasn’t going to be a let down. I go to London every now and again to attend blogger events and just to spend a little time away with family… because we all love a bit of sight seeing don’t we? ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a relaxing 3 hour trip on the train from Dorset to London Waterloo station and from there I caught an Uber to Shoreditch. I instantly fell in love with the area because there was so much to do a lots going on. There were lots of bars and restaurants on the same street as The Hoxton so I knew I definitely wasn’t going to get bored.

As I walked through the doors of The Hoxton Hotel I instantly fell in love with the style of the place. They have a gorgeous restaurant, bar and coffee area as well as roomy seating areas. I caught the lift to the 6th floor where I was greeted by my room for the night. My room was very light, spacious and modern with a brightly patterened carpet, a table and chairs, coffee making facilities and a cool TV that I could pull away from the wall and face in any direction I wanted (AMAZING, HUH?!) The bathroom was decorated with black tiles which also gave it a modern feel. The white lights lit up the bathroom as well as the spacious shower. In the room was an air con and a fridge which kept my Proseccoย nice and cool ๐Ÿ™‚ I absolutely love how welcoming the hotel made me feel. My Summer so far… <3

I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve been on holiday and this weekend I went to London for the weekend with a couple of other bloggers for dinner and drinks (it was lovely). I’m having a busy Summer (/year) so far and time is flying wayyyy to quickly.. I can’t believe I’m 23 in a couple of weeks. CRAZY! So I’ve decided to do a random post on what I’ve been up to so far this Summer…

HEEEY GUYS & GALS!

In March I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Los Angeles and yeah I know March isn’t Summer, but it’s close enough and lets be honest it’s the most exciting thing I’ve done in my entire life! I had such a lovely time and even got the chance to visit Too Faced HQ in Irvine and let me tell you this, it was pure heaven. I had an exciting tour around their offices, kitchen and studio and lets just say every room was full of makeup, very pink and the weather was lovelyy!

I later returned home back to, well, not so sunny England and reality gave me a huge slap in the face. I returned to work the following week but on the plus side I managed to complete my Level 4 Diploma in Digital Marketing with a distinction so life wasn’t all that bad (clapsss).

In June I went on a lovely holiday with my boyfriends family to Turkey. I had a great time blogging for World Duty Free at Gatwick airport, the girls were so lovely and helpful. I even got the chance to have my brows done thanks so the lady on the Benefit Cosmetics counter who let me try out their new range. Have you seen/tried it yet? Seriously, it’s a must! I can’t believe how shamaazing their brow product range is now since their recent launch. I highly recommend heading down to your nearest Benefit retailer and asking if you can test out their variety of brow products because they have introduced so many new shades.

Ok so after raiding the Duty Free shop in departures we jetted off to Turkey and basically spent 10 days chilling. I say chilling, I actually faced 2 of my biggest fears and feel pretty proud of myself. I swam with a wild, yes wild turtle that was just swimming around in the lagoon and I also went parasailing! Seeing as I’m afraid of heights and anything that moves I felt like I had accomplished a lot in such a short space of time.

I returned home from Turkey last week and the following day was lucky enough so spend the afternoon at Lush Cosmetics HQ. I had a tour around their offices and tested out some bath bombs. I later went for a luxurious facial in their spa and if this blog post is to teach you one thing, it’s that Lush facials are THE BEST IN THE WORLD! I mean, I’ve not had a facial in another country but I’ve definitely had a few facials and this one was totally unique and worth every penny of the price they charge. Basically, you’re there for around an hour and a half and you get to pick the Lush products you want them to use. You’re then taken to the most beautiful, cosy room.. almost like a cottage where you lay down and listen to a sound track that was recorded right on my doorstep! Well, not literally ON my doorstep but just up the road at Chesil beach. It’s soooo relaxing and the therapist massages you for a whole 60 minutes as well as stretching out the muscles in your arms and legs. I then left there smelling of a walking lush store (perfect).

This weekend just gone I had a manic but enjoyable weekend in London with my two blogger pals, Amy and Victoria. We had a lovely afternoon tea at Sketch – the most picturesque lunch I ever have consumed. If ever you go to Sketch then honestly you’ve GOT to check out their bathroom! You literally pee in pods, that’s all I’m gunna say.

After afternoon tea we got ready for dinner at Bodos Schloss in Kensington where we spent the evening eating and consuming far too much alcohol. We managed to spend the whole night in the VIP area drinking plenty of cocktails, rose and vodka. It was an enjoyable night drinking and dancing the night away! I highly recommend visiting Bodos Schloss for a top night out and we will definitely be returning again soon.

Ok, so that is my Summer so far, it’s been pretty amazing to be honest. Oh yeah, I can’t believe I forgot to mention, my boyfriend proposed to me at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills whilst on our trip to LA (how romantic?) I will never forget both our holidays this year and can’t wait to go back in a year or two.

Please let me know about your Summer so far and any holidays you have been on because I’m always on the hunt to book a holiday for next year. I’d love to hear about any adventures you’ve been on.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I hope you all have a great week!

Get skinny for Summer! <3

I’ve been trying to cut out all chocolate, crisps and generally unhealthy stuff over the last couple of weeks in the hope that I will shed a few pounds. I have a sweet tooth and so cutting out chocolate & sweets has been tough but I know it will be worth it in the end. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Skinny Coffee Club…

Heeey!

I can’t believe this amazing weather that has hit the UK over the last few days and I hope this is the start of a good Summer. I’ve been trying to cut out all chocolate, crisps and generally unhealthy stuff over the last couple of weeks in the hope that I will shed a few pounds. I have a sweet tooth and so cutting out chocolate & sweets has been tough but I know it will be worth it in the end. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Skinny Coffee Club <3

If you love a coffee fix then this plan will be perfect for you! Who would have thought there could be a diet program around coffee, ey?!

I’ve started off with one pack of coffee which is enough for a 28 day weight loss program. It has been proven to burn fat fast, speed up your metabolism and also cut cravings. I only had my chocolate cravings for the first few days of starting my diet and I find that drinking the coffee replaces the chocolate bar I would usually have at either lunch time or when I get home from work. Not only that but this coffee also helps reduce the feelings of bloating I get whilst on a diet.

2 weeks in to my diet and I can already feel the difference. They do say that the coffee works even without doing any exercise but I have been going swimming 2-3 times per week and have been taking the dog out for walks on the weekends. I do find it tough to fit exercise in to my daily lifestyle but I didn’t want to start this diet without doing any exercise at all, especially as I am going on holiday in 8 weeks so the clock is ticking!

I’m really happy with the results so far and am going to keep persisting with my diet routine. Eating healthier, drinking the coffee and cutting out the rubbish foods makes me feel happier in myself. I feel more awake at work, more motivated and my skin also looks so much healthier!

Skinny Coffee Club currently have an offer of 20% off which is ending at midnight tonight.. Just enter NEWME at checkout <3
